Ten years ago: North America’s first footbike competition

The first Kickbike (footbike) competition ever held in North America took place 10 years ago, on September 12, 1999. The name of the race was “Colorado Super-Kick 8k State Championship” or “Colorado Kickbike [8k] State Championship.”

  1. So who’s the buff dude in the photo? Is it John V., or just an anonymous kickbikin’ hunk?


  2. The picture file, from Kickbike.com, is “dantheman_large.jpg” and looks like it could be Colorado, from about 10 years ago (judging by the bike), so I’m betting it’s Dan Nielsen, the winner of that first race.
